Adhesive cutaneous conducting polymer electrodes

چکیده
Conducting polymers are widely used as electrode coatings in electrophysiology to lower impedance and achieve higher quality recordings more efficient stimulation. Their availability dispersions that can be processed directly from solution makes them particularly attractive for applications, where low cost compatibility with mechanically flexible substrates important. In this work, we demonstrate poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene)-based conducting polymer films made adhesive skin polyimide by adding acrylic ester copolymer microparticles the solution. The resultant remained highly despite incorporating at most 2.5% polymer. We show cutaneous electrodes fabricated using these comparable performance commercial forearm electromyography.

Conducting polymer electrodes for auditory brainstem implants.
The auditory brainstem implant (ABI) restores hearing in patients with damaged auditory nerves. One of the main ideas to improve the efficacy of ABIs is to increase spatial specificity of stimulation, in order to minimize extra-auditory side-effects and to maximize the tonotopy of stimulation. This study reports on the development of a microfabricated conformable electrode array with small (100...
متن کاملConducting Polymer Electrodes for Gel Electrophoresis
In nearly all cases, electrophoresis in gels is driven via the electrolysis of water at the electrodes, where the process consumes water and produces electrochemical by-products. We have previously demonstrated that π-conjugated polymers such as poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT) can be placed between traditional metal electrodes and an electrolyte to mitigate electrolysis in liquid (capi...
متن کاملCharge Transport in Conducting Polymer Film Electrodes
A polymer film electrode can be defined as an electrochemical system in which at least three phases are contacted successively in such a way that between a first-order conductor (usually a metal) and a second-order conductor (usually an electrolyte solution) is an electrochemically active polymer layer. The polymer layer is more or less stably attached to the metal, mainly by adsorption (adhesi...

An in vitro comparison of conducting-polymer nanotubes of poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT) and poly(pyrrole) (PPy) and to their film counterparts is reported. Impedance, charge-capacity density (CCD), tendency towards delamination, and neurite outgrowth are compared. For the same deposition charge density, PPy films and nanotubes grow relatively faster vertically, while PEDOT films and ...
متن کاملElectropolymerization on wireless electrodes towards conducting polymer microfibre networks.
Conducting polymers can be easily obtained by electrochemical oxidation of aromatic monomers on an electrode surface as a film state. To prepare conducting polymer fibres by electropolymerization, templates such as porous membranes are necessary in the conventional methods. Here we report the electropolymerization of 3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene and its derivatives by alternating current (AC)-bip...
